Custom Home Build Case Study

Greyson creekThe family wanted to maximize the available space so that they could have large gathering areas both inside and outside — all done on a very sloped lot with several heritage oak trees that had to be preserved.

Background

The family in question (let’s call them the Smith family) consisted of a mother and father with two high-school age children. The land where their home was to be built was on an upward-sloping lot of just under half an acre in a very desirable neighborhood.

The Challenge

The family wanted to maximize the available space so that they could have large gathering areas both inside and outside. They also wanted an area of the custom home for guests with a separate bathroom, an RV garage with an attached workshop, and a four-car garage. To top off the list, the family also wanted a swimming pool in the back yard.

The Solution

In order to get the most out of the available space and the up-sloped lot, ESI Builders designed a tri-level home for the family. This would allow the five bedroom, six bathroom home to be built on the upward slope, while still allowing an area for the pool and a small yard. A large front deck was incorporated into the design, as well as a wrap-around deck that attached to the dining room. An outdoor living space was attached to the family room that included a BBQ pit and a TV with speakers. A pool room connected to one of the garages served as a transition area between the pool and the house. For the indoor gathering area, an open design for the kitchen and family room area was used. Dual sliders connected the formal dining room to the family room so that, when the sliders were opened, it would turn into one large room.

As with all their custom homes, ESI builders incorporated a number of energy-saving features into the design. In addition to solar panels on the roof and insulated windows, a built-in home automation system would automatically turn off the lights when a person left a room.

The Results

The end result for the Smith family was a home with the all the space required by an active family that loves to entertain guests. The energy-efficient design helps keep their electric bill down, and thanks to the warranties offered by ESI Builders, they can rest easy knowing that any problems with the home can be solved with a single phone call.
